For the Media

Barbara Ostfeld is the first ordained woman cantor in Jewish history. She broke that stained glass ceiling and began serving congregations in New York at the age of twenty-two. A vocal advocate for mental health care, she is also an enthusiastic singer of protest songs, especially the new ones. Barbara lives in Buffalo, New York, with her husband and an assortment of mildew-spotted African violets. Catbird is her first book.
