“A narrative masterpiece. . . . I could barely catch my breath.”

This is a narrative masterpiece. I challenge anyone to find autobiographical storytelling that moves so seamlessly in age appropriate perspective from birth to age 65. The narrative flow is enhanced with short chapters, which makes the memoir voice unusual and captivating. Its details are intimate, vivid and at times very tough to read. I could barely catch my breath.
[Ostfeld is] at times both humorously and humorlessly aware of her own shortcomings. Yet as she continues her uphill battle of redemption regardless, you can’t help but muse that perhaps her own OCD helps her stay anchored to her instincts, learning like most of us that getting help and sticking with it, frees us.
